Building Pollutants

Numerous pollutants (hazardous substances) can be present in buildings, which pose a risk to human health. When buildings are demolished or converted at the latest, a risk assessment must be carried out to determine whether and which safety precautions and protective measures are necessary. Furthermore, it must be checked whether the disposal of waste materials can be problematic. The following pollutants are of particular importance:

  • Asbestos
  • Mould
  • Artificial mineral fibers (KMF)
  • Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB)
  • Pentachlorophenol (PCP) lindane
  • Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH)
  • Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) formaldehyde
  • Mineral oil hydrocarbons
  • Heavy metals
